Bhakti Chakora Ashram

A project of Vana Madhuryam USA

Experience the Bliss:
Join our Weekly
Seattle Kirtan

Come gather with us in like-minded spiritual community (satsang) – for a collective mantra meditation music experience of chanting the maha-mantra and devotional singing of other sacred Sanskrit mantras.

Our Kirtan programs serve as an urban spiritual retreat where you can decompress from the pressures of hectic city life, and transport to another realm of inner peace, bliss and true happiness.

Kirtan is a type of sacred mantra sound bath, a heart-centered practice of mindfulness to calm the mind, opening the heart, enliven the spirit, and connect to the Divine. Kirtan is the essential practice of

Bhakti yoga – the Yoga of Devotion.

Go beyond Yoga asana and delve deep! At Kirtans we share and discuss Pure Bhakti Yoga Philosophy and Vedic Wisdom, often in the form of storytelling, from ancient texts like the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and Puranas.

The proof is in the pudding“, as George Harrison from the Beatles once said about Maha-Mantra chanting- come experience the sense of bliss and awakening for yourself!

Our Friday Night Kirtan is

by Love Donation –

any amount from the heart is accepted as a gift to the ashram.

Every Kirtan program also includes

a delicious sattvic vegetarian & vegan blessed meal

We host Kirtans every Friday in  Wedgwood – Seattle

All are welcome – new and seasoned practitioners alike.

About the Ashram

Chakora” is a mystical bird described in the ancient Vedas which subsists solely on moonlight. “Bhakti Chakora” is the name of one who subsists on the moonbeams of pure devotion, bhakti. This is a nickname given to our spiritual master, Srila Bhaktivedanta Vana Goswami Maharaja; subsequently, his disciples are all like his baby Chakora Birds.

Bhakti Chakora Ashram is a grassroots collective of devotees, friends, kirtan lovers, spiritualists, seekers, yogis, meditators, and inquirers of the Absolute Truth. We gather together regularly to engage in spiritual community, chant, sing, serve, and engage in the practice of Pure Bhakti Yoga and mantra meditation, and discuss Krishna consciousness and Vaisnava philosophy. We operate under the loving guidance and instruction of our dearmost spiritual master, Srila Bhaktivedanta Vana Goswami Maharaja, from West Bengal, India. You can read more about him here.

Our aim and object is to practice and spread these impeccable teachings, which intricately describe the spiritual aspect of this universe, solve all of the world’s most pertinent problems such as birth, death, disease and old age; and answer the deepest, age-old questions of human beings like “Why am I here?”, “Why am I suffering?”, “How do I get out of suffering?”, and “What happens after death?”

We host regular gatherings at our ashram & nonprofit headquarters office in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle- as well as at yoga studios, markets, spiritual & community centers, parks and private homes throughout the Greater Seattle Area and Pacific Northwest. We also host annual & bi-annual visits with our spiritual master, who stays at the ashram and gives lectures at various venues around the city.

Our ashram & outreach project in Seattle is a project of the nonprofit, Vana Madhuryam USA.

About our Lineage

Our tradition comes from a pure, bonafide, source of Vedic knowledge through a lineage of Gurus (in Sanskrit – “Guru Parampara”). This lineage has effectively transferred knowledge and wisdom from guru to disciple for thousands of years. This lineage is called the Brahma Madhva Gaudiya Sampradaya, and traces back to the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna and his imparting of all knowledge to Lord Brahma. These teachings have been meticulously preserved in their authenticity, and are presently shared and taught around the world for souls eager to hear the truth by our living spiritual master, Srila Bhaktivedanta Vana Goswami Maharaja.

“One should learn how to associate with the devotees of Bhagavan by gathering with them to chant the glories of Bhagavan. This process is most purifying. As devotees thus develop their loving friendship, they feel mutual happiness and satisfaction. And by thus encouraging one another they are able to give up material sense gratification, which is the cause of all suffering."

Bhagavat Purana [Srimad Bhagavatam], Canto 11 Chapter 3 Verse 30

How to Get Involved

Our ashram is run completely on the concept of seva, or selfless devotional service. As we engage our skills, energy, and time in the ashram, we develop eternal benefit, help maintain a beautiful spiritual community and regular gathering space, and progress in our spiritual life.

All kirtans and bhakti classes are by donation from the heart. Please consider giving to our nonprofit with a one-time or monthly donation, which supports the ashram and all associated costs for regular programs.
